NEW ORLEANS MAN SENTENCED FOR ASSAULTING FEDERAL AGENTS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LEWIS THOMAS, age 29, a resident of New Orleans, was sentenced today in federal court by U. S. District Judge Stanwood R. Duval, Jr., to (3) three years of probation, and ordered to pay a fine of $1,000 for assaulting and impeding federal agents while engaged in the performance of their official duties, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to court documents, on December 3, 2008, LEWIS THOMAS, forcibly assaulted and interfered with United States Secret Service Agents while they attempted to arrest his girlfriend, Anitra Smith, a wanted fugitive from Florida
The case was investigated by the United States Secret Service. The prosecution was handled by Assistant U. S. Attorney Spiro G. Latsis.
