MAN INDICTED FOR CRACK DISTRIBUTION

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CURTIS DYER a/k/a “Duke”, age 28, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, was charged in a two count indictment by a Federal Grand Jury for distribution of cocaine base, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
Count One of the Indictment charged DYER with having knowingly and intentionally possessed with intent to distribute and distributed 5 grams or more of crack. Count Two of the Indictment charged DYER with having knowingly and intentionally distributed 50 grams or more of crack.
If convicted of Count One, DYER faces a minimum of 5 years up to 40 years imprisonment, a $2 million fine, and at least four years supervised release following a term of imprisonment. If convicted of Count Two, DYER faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years to life imprisonment, a $4 million fine, and at least 5 years supervised release following a term of imprisonment.
U. S. Attorney Letten reiterated that the indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendants must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
