OKLAHOMA MAN INDICTED FOR COMMUNICATING DEATH THREATS OVER “MYSPACE” INTERNET WEBSITE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DEVIN LESLEY, age 21, a resident of Norman, Oklahoma, was charged in a two-count indictment today by a Federal Grand Jury with communicating death threats in interstate commerce, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to the indictment, the defendant, DEVIN LESLEY, utilized a fictitious name on the internet website “MySpace” when he communicated two threats to a Thibodaux, Louisiana, resident threatening to kill her and members of her family.
If convicted, as to each count, DEVIN LESLEY faces a maximum term of imprisonment of five years, a fine of $250,000, three years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment, and a $100 special assessment.
The case is being investigated by agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
U. S. Attorney Letten reiterated that the indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Matt Chester.
