FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LOUIS JOHNSON, age 30, a resident of Edgard, Louisiana, and TREVOR JEFFERY, age 34, a resident of Vacherie, Louisiana, were sentenced by U. S. District Judge Stanwood R. Duval, Jr., for their roles in drug and firearms conspiracies, announced U. S Attorney Jim Letten.
Specifically, JOHNSON was sentenced to a total of 25 years imprisonment, and JEFFERY was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment. Each defendant will be on supervised release for five years following their imprisonment. During their release, the defendants will be under federal supervision and risk additional terms of imprisonment should they violate any terms of their supervised releases.
According to court documents, on January 26, 2009, JOHNSON and JEFFER previously entered guilty pleas before Judge Duvall admitting their guilt. According to court documents, agents conducted two controlled purchases of crack cocaine from JOHNSON during 2006. In late September, 2006, agents obtained a wiretap of JOHNSON’s phone and intercepted numerous drug calls between JOHNSON, JEFFERY and numerous others. One of the calls intercepted detailed JOHNSON and JEFFERY’s plans to meet with a potential source for kilograms of cocaine. JOHNSON and JEFFERY subsequently made a purchase of multiple kilograms from the source only to later discover that the kilograms were false drugs. After agents intercepted a call between JOHNSON and JEFFERY wherein they made plans to take revenge against the source for the false drugs, arrest warrants were obtained and JOHNSON and JEFFERY and the defendants residences were searched. Inside JOHNSON’s residence, agents discovered two firearms, 334 grams of crack cocaine, and 1500 grams of powder cocaine. In JEFFERY’s room, agents discovered a firearm, and 133 grams of crack cocaine. JOHNSON later admitted to agents that he had planned to kill the person responsible for selling him the false drugs.
After sentencing, JOHNSON and JEFFERY were remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal’s Service to begin his term of imprisonment.
This case was investigated by Special Agents and Task Force Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Kevin G. Boitmann and Andre Jones.
