HAMMOND MAN SENTENCED FOR MAKING THREATS AGAINST THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GREGORY BROUSSARD, age 45, of Hammond, Louisiana, was sentenced today before U. S. District Judge Kurt D. Engelhardt to twelve (12) months in prison followed by three (3) years of supervised release, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
Additionally, the Court ordered the defendant be placed in a halfway house for a term of six (6) months followed by home incarceration for an additional six (6) months following his release from prison, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. The defendant has been in custody since December, 2008
According to court documents, on April 15, 2009, BROUSSARD pled guilty to an Indictment charging him with making threats against the President of the United States. BROUSSARD admitted that on December 29, 2008, while at North Oaks Hospital in Hammond, Louisiana, he threatened to kill United States President George W. Bush and that he wanted to blow up the White House.
The investigation of this case was handled by Special Agents of the U. S. Secret Service and the case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Brian M. Klebba and Senior Litigation Counsel Salvador Perricone.
