NEW ORLEANS MAN SENTENCED FOR VIOLATING FEDERAL GUN CONTROL ACT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ANTHONY HICKMAN, age 57, a resident of New Orleans, LA, was sentenced in federal court today by U. S. District Judge Carl J. Barbier to twenty-one (21) months of imprisonment for violation of the Federal Gun Control Act, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. Additionally, Judge Barbier ordered the defendant to spend three (3) years of supervised release following imprisonment, during which time the defendant will be under federal supervision and risk additional imprisonment should he violate any terms of the release.
According to court documents, HICKMAN pled guilty to one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a person who has been convicted of a felony, admitting that on February 5, 2009, HICKMAN has in his possession a Lorcin Model L380, .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol. HICKMAN also admitted that he had previously been convicted on January 8, 2003 for possession of heroin and on November 14, 2003 for possession of heroin.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Sharan E. Lieberman.
