LAPLACE MAN SENTENCED FOR DEALING IN COUNTERFEIT MONEY

CHARLES WILLIAMS, age 27, a resident of LaPlace, was sentenced yesterday in federal court by U. S. District Judge Helen G. Berrigan to three years probation for dealing in counterfeit obligations of the United States, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to court documents, on April 1, 2009, WILLIAMS pled guilty to two counts of a bill of information admitting that he sold counterfeit money to a cooperating source and a federal undercover agent, respectively, in the amount of $1,000 in $100 denominations on December 16, 2004, and in the amount of $1,300 in $100 denominations on December 17, 2004.
The case was investigated by the United States Secret Service. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Peter M. Thomson.
