ILLEGAL ALIEN PLEADS GUILTY TO FRAUD AND MISUSE OF A PERMANENT RESIDENT CARD

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
EDUARDO SALINAS-TREVINO, age 36, a citizen of Mexico, pled guilty today before U.S. District Judge Ivan L.R. Lemelle to one count of fraud and misuse of a permanent resident card, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to the factual basis, SALINAS-TREVINO, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, used a counterfeit Permanent Resident Card as proof of identification in connection with his employment as a subcontractor at the Marathon Oil Refinery in Garyville, Louisiana.
The defendant faces a possible maximum sentence of ten (10) years imprisonment, a fine of $250,000.00, and three (3) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment. Sentencing is scheduled for January 20, 2010.
This investigation was conducted by Special Agents of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The prosecution of this case is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney Gregory M. Kennedy.
