ILLEGAL ALIEN PLEADS GUILTY IN FEDERAL COURT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JESUS ANTONIO ARANGO-RAMIREZ, age 19, a resident of Colombia, pled guilty in federal court today before U. S. District Judge Kurt D. Engelhardt to count two of a two-count indictment charging him with illegal re-entry by a removed alien, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to the factual basis, ARANGO admitted that he is an alien who had previously been removed and that on August 25, 2009, he was knowingly found in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana without the proper consent.
ARANGO faces a maximum statutory penalty of two (2) years imprisonment, a fine of $250,000, and one year of supervised release following any term of imprisonment. Sentencing has been scheduled for January 27, 2010 at 9:00 A.M.
The case was investigated by United States Customs and Border Protection. The case is being prosecuted by Special Assistant U. S. Attorney Robert Weir.
