SHREWSBURY MAN INDICTED FOR POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
BOSTON, MA - A federal grand jury returned an indictment yesterday charging a Shrewsbury man with possession of child pornography.
United States Attorney Michael K. Loucks; Bruce M. Foucart, Special Agent in Charge of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Office of Investigation in Boston; A. Wayne Sampson, Chief, Shrewsbury Police Department; Colonel Mark Delaney, Superintendent, Massachusetts State Police; and Richard A. Braga, Jr., Chief, Hudson Police Department, announced today that DAVID LADEAU, age 54, of 6 Williamsburg Court, Apt. 3, Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, was charged in a indictment with possession of child pornography.
The indictment alleges that on April 15, 2009, in Shrewsbury, in the District of Massachusetts, LADEAU knowingly possessed images depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. LADEAU was arrested and charged by Complaint on May 22, 2009. The Complaint alleged that on April 15, 2009, ICE agents, members of the Massachusetts State Police and members of the Shrewsbury Police Department executed a search warrant at LADEAU’s residence. The search warrant authorized law enforcement agents to search for and seize evidence relating to the possession of child pornography. As a result of that search, agents recovered multiple DVDs and CDs from LADEAU’s home. It is alleged that several of the DVDs and CDs contain videos depicting child pornography. Some of the videos depict minors under the age of twelve engaged in sexual acts with adults and/or other minors.
Following his arrest on May 22, 2009, the government sought detention in light of LADEAU’s criminal history. As alleged in the complaint, LADEAU recently had pled guilty in state court to two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child, two counts of showing obscene material to a minor, and one count of enticing a child under the age of sixteen. United States Magistrate Judge Timothy S. Hillman ordered LADEAU detained pending trial.
If convicted on these charges, LADEAU faces up to 10 years imprisonment to be followed by at least five years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine.
The case was investigated by ICE, the Shrewsbury Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit and the Hudson Police Department. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Karin M. Bell of Loucks’s Worcester Branch Office.
The details contained in the indictment are allegations. The defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
