Boston, MA ... A New Bedford man pled guilty and was sentenced today in federal court for facilitating and brokering the unlawful transfer of an unregistered sawed-off shotgun.

Acting United States Attorney Michael K. Loucks, Glenn N. Anderson, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives - Boston Field Division and Chief Ronald E. Teachman of the New Bedford Police Department, announced that JUAN FELICIANO, age 23, of New Bedford, MA, pled guilty today before U.S. District Judge Joseph L. Tauro to aiding and abetting the transfer of an unregistered sawed-off shotgun. Immediately upon accepting his guilty plea, U.S. District Judge Tauro sentenced FELICIANO to time served.

On or about December 14, 2005, FELICIANO knowingly facilitated and brokered the sale and transfer of a sawed-off 12 gauge shotgun to a confidential informant that was not registered in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the New Bedford Police Department. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Antoinette E.M. Leoney and Kenneth Shine in Loucks’ Major Crimes Unit.
