NORTH OXFORD MAN SENTENCED FOR POSSESSION OF CHILD PORN

BOSTON, MA - A North Oxford man was sentenced yesterday in federal court for possession of child pornography.

Acting United States Attorney Michael K. Loucks and Warren T. Bamford, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation - Boston Field Division and Chief Michael J. Boss of the Oxford Police Department announced today that JOHN CORAN, age 51, of North Oxford, Massachusetts, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge F. Dennis Saylor, IV to 46 months imprisonment, to be followed by 5 years of supervised release. CORAN pled guilty to possession of child pornography on June 17, 2009 pursuant to a plea agreement.

At the plea hearing, the prosecutor told the Court that had the case proceeded to trial the Government’s evidence would have proven that in 2006 and 2007, CORAN purchased subscriptions to web sites devoted to child pornography. After searching CORAN’s North Oxford home, agents found several photo albums filled with images of child pornography and numerous still images depicting child pornography. The images depicted minors under the age of 12, posing nude or engaged in sexual acts with one another. CORAN obtained the images from the Internet.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Oxford Police Department. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Karin M. Bell of Loucks’ Worcester Branch Office.
