Brockton Man Pleads Guilty to Federal Gun Charges

Boston, MA. A Brockton man pled guilty in federal court to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Acting United States Attorney Michael K. Loucks, Glenn N. Anderson, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Chief William Conlon of the Brockton Police Department announced that on September 16, 2009, MARCUS ROBINSON, a/k/a, “Murder,” age 29, of Brockton, pled guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm before the Honorable Mark L. Wolf.

On October 20, 2006, ROBINSON offered to sell a sawed-off shotgun to a cooperating witness. ROBINSON told the cooperating witness that if he could not immediately sell the shotgun for cash, he planned to trade it for "two eight balls" of crack cocaine. The witness offered to purchase the shotgun that day for $300.00. ROBINSON agreed, and arranged to meet at a location where Brockton Police had set up surveillance to monitor the purchase.

ROBINSON met the witness and handed him a bag, containing a Browning sawed-off shotgun and two 12 gauge shotgun shells. During the transaction, which was recorded by a device worn by the witness, ROBINSON offered to sell the witness an additional .45 caliber handgun and more ammunition.

Sentencing is scheduled for December 14, 2009. ROBINSON faces a 15 year mandatory minimum term of imprisonment, and a maximum term of life.

The case was investigated by the Brockton Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Leah Foley and Ted Henrich of Loucks’ Drug Unit.
