MAN SENTENCED TO 140 MONTHS FOR HEROIN TRAFFICKING


Drugs Purchased in New York City for Sale in Baltimore

 

Baltimore, Maryland - Darius Spence, age 35, of Baltimore, was sentenced today to 140 months in prison followed by 4 years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute heroin, announced United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein.

 

According to the statement of facts presented to the court on September 7, 2005 at his guilty plea, Spence conspired with others to travel to New York City to obtain substantial quantities of heroin for sale and distribution in Baltimore. Throughout 2004, associates of Spence purchased over 100 grams of heroin in New York City which Spence and others distributed in Baltimore.

 

United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein thanked the Drug Enforcement Administration for their investigative work, and commended Assistant United States Attorney George L. Russell, III, who prosecuted the case.
