FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ANTONIO MOSBY SENTENCED FOR CONSPIRACY TO DISTRIBUTE HEROIN
Conspired With Former Baltimore Police Officers King and Murray
BALTIMORE, Maryland - Antonio Mosby, age 40, of Baltimore, was sentenced today to 16 months in prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release for conspiracy to distribute heroin, announced United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein.
According to the statement of facts presented at his guilty plea, from at least August 2004 through May 16, 2005, Mosby conspired with William King and Antonio Murray to distribute heroin in Baltimore City. During this time, Murray and King were Baltimore City police officers. Mosby identified street level drug dealers. Murray and King, while armed with their service pistols and identifying themselves as police officers, detained and threatened those dealers with arrest and prosecution, and by force and threat of force took their drugs and/or the proceeds of their drug sales. Murray and King also threatened the dealers with future arrest and prosecution if they failed to identify other sources of drugs or proceeds in the future. Murray and King distributed heroin and other narcotics to Mosby to sell on the street. Mosby, King and Murray split the profits from the sale of heroin and other narcotics, as well as any proceeds recovered from dealers on the street. Over the course of the conspiracy, Mosby participated in acquiring and distributing between 40 and 60 grams of heroin.
Murray and King were convicted by a federal jury in April, 2006 of robbery, drug trafficking and firearms offenses and were subsequently sentenced to 139, and over 315, years in prison, respectively.
United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein thanked the Federal Bureau of Investigation for their investigative work in this case. Mr. Rosenstein also praised Assistant United States Attorneys A. David Copperthite and Charles J. Peters, who prosecuted the case.
