BALTIMORE MAN SENTENCED TO 51 MONTHS IN PRISON FOR POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
Possessed Over 3,000 Images of Child Pornography;
Baltimore, Maryland - Alfred O’Neill, age 62, of Baltimore, was sentenced today to 51 months in prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release for possessing over 600 images of child pornography, announced United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein. U.S. District Judge Andre M. Davis also ordered that O’Neill register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.
According to the statement of facts presented to the court as part of the plea agreement, the Maryland State Police (MSP) received a complaint in November 2004 from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding an individual in Maryland using an internet screen name. The MSP identified O’Neill as the subscriber to the screen name. They searched O’Neill’s residence in March 2005 and seized: two computer towers; two floppy disks which revealed images depicting minor females engaged in various sexual positions and performing lascivious acts, and images titled “lilrape” and “lilrape2”; and a memo pad containing notes of O’Neill’s internet activity that included child pornography website addresses. At least one image on O’Neill’s computer involved a prepubescent minor. In all, MSP seized an estimated 3,268 images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein praised the investigative work performed by the Maryland State Police, and commended the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children for their assistance. Mr. Rosenstein thanked Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel Fortune who is prosecuting the case.
