BALTIMORE DRUG DEALER SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS FOR CONSPIRACY TO DISTRIBUTE CRACK COCAINE
Baltimore, Maryland - U.S. District Judge Andre M. Davis sentenced Dantangnan Pittman, age 37, of Baltimore, today to 15 years in prison followed by four years of supervised release for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute five grams or more of crack cocaine, announced United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein. Judge Davis enhanced Pittman’s sentence upon finding that he is a career offender based on two previous narcotics distribution convictions.
According to his guilty plea, on December 14, 2005, law enforcement officers observed Pittman’s residence after a confidential source advised that Pittman was a source of crack cocaine for the area of Tivoly Avenue and Harford Road in Baltimore. Officers observed Pittman leave his apartment, drive to the 2700 block of Tivoly Avenue, pick up a man, drive back to his residence, enter his residence while the man waited in the car and return to the car to hand an object to the man. Pittman drove the man back to the area of Tivoly and Harford. Both Pittman and the man were later stopped and officers recovered 50 white top vials of crack cocaine from the man. A subsequent search of Pittman’s apartment recovered boxes of ziplock bags and vials, a digital scale, boxes of white topped packaging material and 48.53 grams of cocaine base.
United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein thanked the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Baltimore City Police Department for their investigative work, and commended Assistant United States Attorney James Wallner, who prosecuted the case.
