BANK ROBBER SENTENCED TO OVER 11 YEARS

Baltimore, Maryland - U.S. District Judge Catherine C. Blake sentenced Randall Montgomery Brooks, age 43, of Millersville, Maryland today to 139 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release for bank robbery, announced United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein. Judge Blake also ordered Brooks to pay restitution of $2,140.

According to his guilty plea, Brooks entered the Provident Bank on May 22, 2006, located at 5722A Richie Highway in Brooklyn, Maryland. He gave a teller a demand note and threatened to shoot the teller. Brooks took $2,140 from the teller and left the bank, without displaying a weapon. On May 26, responding to a tip, Anne Arundel County Police officers arrested Brooks at home.

United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein thanked the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Anne Arundel County Police Department for their investigative work, and commended Assistant United States Attorney Michael C. Hanlon, who prosecuted the case.
