ABERDEEN MAN EXILED TO OVER 12 YEARS IN PRISON
FOR CARJACKING OFFENSES
Baltimore, Maryland - U.S. District Judge J. Frederick Motz sentenced Tyrone Moore, age 21, of Aberdeen, Maryland, today to 147 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release for conspiracy, carjacking and using a firearm during a crime of violence.
The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein; Special Agent in Charge Mark Chait of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives - Baltimore Field Division; Harford County Sheriff L. Jesse Bane; Baltimore City State’s Attorney Gregg L. Bernstein; and Baltimore Police Commissioner Frederick H. Bealefeld III.
According to evidence presented during the eight day trial, on November 25, 2007, Moore, accompanied by two associates, pointed a gun at the owner of a Jeep Grand Cherokee who had parked his vehicle near the intersection of E. 39th Street and Hadley Square West, in the Guilford area of Baltimore. The victim had been talking with another individual as they stood near his vehicle. Moore demanded that the victim give him the keys to the Jeep. After Moore repeated his demand, the victim tossed his keys to Moore.
Moore took the keys and drove away in the Jeep. Deputies from the Harford County Sheriff’s Department subsequently recovered the Jeep on December 2, 2007 in the Perrywood Gardens apartment complex. Items of clothing with Moore’s DNA were found in the Jeep, and five of his fingerprints were found on one of the passenger’s doors. The victim identified Moore as the carjacker from a photo array. According to court documents, Moore was a member of the Crips gang, and Moore admitted that he was a gang member at today’s sentencing hearing.

Rosenstein commended the ATF, Harford County Sheriff’s Office; Baltimore Police Department and Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office for their work in this investigation. Mr. Rosenstein thanked Assistant United States Attorneys Jefferson M. Gray and Christopher J. Romano, who prosecuted the case.
