BALTIMORE FELON EXILED TO 10 YEARS
FOR POSSESSING STOLEN AMMUNITION
Baltimore, Maryland - U.S. District Judge Benson E. Legg sentenced Richard Evans, age 27, of Baltimore today to 10 years in prison followed by three years of supervised release for being a felon in possession of stolen ammunition.
The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein; Special Agent in Charge Theresa R. Stoop of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives - Baltimore Field Division; Baltimore City State’s Attorney Patricia C. Jessamy; and Baltimore Police Commissioner Frederick H. Bealefeld III.
According to Evans’s plea agreement, in February 2009 law enforcement officers observed numerous people walk to Evans’s residence, look around, enter the address and exit a few minutes later. Believing that the residence was being used to store and distribute illegal narcotics, officers obtained a search warrant and searched the residence on March 6, 2009, seizing two razor blades containing drug residue, small ziplock bags, a black top glass jug containing a brown hand rolled cigar with marijuana, a green top vial with drug residue and a .20 gauge live shotgun shell. Evans admitted that the shotgun round had been stolen.
United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein commended Special Assistant United States Attorney Traci Robinson, a cross-designated Baltimore City Assistant State’s Attorney assigned to Exile cases, who prosecuted the case.
