BALTIMORE FELON EXILED TO 10 YEARS IN PRISON FOR DRUG DEALING
Baltimore, Maryland - U.S. District Judge Richard D. Bennett sentenced Keith Stevenson, age 38, of Baltimore, today to 10 years in prison followed by 3 years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein; Special Agent in Charge Theresa R. Stoop of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives - Baltimore Field Division; Baltimore City State’s Attorney Patricia C. Jessamy; and Baltimore Police Commissioner Frederick H. Bealefeld III.
According to his plea agreement, on August 5, 2008, Baltimore Police officers saw Stevenson, who was a passenger in a van driven by another man, engage in what the officers suspected were drug deals. When the officers approached the van, Stevenson’s companion attempted to run away, but was detained. Officers smelled marijuana coming from the van, looked inside and saw a large clear plastic bag containing marijuana. Stevenson and the other man were arrested and officers recovered $16,027 from Stevenson.
Law enforcement searched Stevenson’s residence and seized a Glock model 19 handgun loaded with 15 rounds; two bags containing approximately 3.97 grams of cocaine; two bags containing approximately 5.15 grams of morphine; 53.35 grams of Mannitol, a cutting agent used with narcotics; and drug paraphernalia, including spoons with residue, empty gel capsules, sifters, playing cards with residue and a plastic bag with residue.
In addition to the handgun and cash listed above, Stevenson was also ordered to forfeit other firearms seized on August 5, 2008, including a Titan handgun; a Winchester shotgun; a double-barrel 12-gauge shotgun; and ammunition.
Mr. Rosenstein commended Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael C. Hanlon, who prosecuted the case.
