BALTIMORE FELON EXILED TO 15 YEARS IN PRISON FOR POSSESSING A STOLEN GUN
Baltimore, Maryland - U.S. District Judge William D. Quarles, Jr. sentenced Michael Robinson, age 26, of Baltimore, today to 15 years in prison followed by four years of supervised release for being a felon in possession of a gun. Judge Quarles enhanced Robinson’s sentence upon finding that he is an armed career criminal based on three prior drug convictions.
The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein; Special Agent in Charge Theresa R. Stoop of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives - Baltimore Field Division; Baltimore City State’s Attorney Patricia C. Jessamy; and Baltimore Police Commissioner Frederick H. Bealefeld III.
According to Robinson’s plea agreement, Baltimore Police officers patrolling Baltimore Street in Baltimore on August 9, 2009 smelled burning marijuana emanating from a car. After learning that the registered owner of the car had a suspended license and observing what appeared to be a bullet hole in the passenger side mirror, the officers stopped the car. An officer saw that one of the four occupants was armed, and ordered the occupants out of the car. When Robinson complied, he stated that he was also armed. A stolen .45 caliber revolver was recovered from Robinson.
Mr. Rosenstein commended Assistant U.S. Attorney Clinton J. Fuchs, who prosecuted the case.
