BANK ROBBER EXILED TO 15 YEARS IN PRISON
Baltimore, Maryland - U.S. District Judge Williams D. Quarles, Jr. sentenced Deshon Johnson, age 36, of Baltimore, today to 15 years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for bank robbery, announced United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein.
According to Johnson’s plea agreement, during late 2006, Johnson and others conspired to rob banks in the Baltimore area. During each robbery, Johnson met with accomplices prior to the planned robbery, traveled to the target bank, and entered the bank. Members of the conspiracy accosted employees and customers at gunpoint and took money from the banks by threat of violence. The bank robbers then left the banks in getaway cars.
As part of the conspiracy, Johnson participated in the following bank robberies: on November 21, 2006, Johnson and other members of the conspiracy robbed the First Mariner Bank located at 8843 Bel Air Road in Baltimore County; on December 6, 2006, Johnson and other members of the conspiracy robbed the Provident Bank located at 9337 Baltimore National Pike in Howard County, Maryland; and on December 15, 2006, Johnson and other members of the conspiracy robbed the Wachovia Bank located at 1750 Rolling Road, Woodlawn, Maryland.
United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein thanked the Baltimore City State’s Attorney Patricia C. Jessamy and her office, the Baltimore Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Baltimore County Police Department, Howard County Police Department and Anne Arundel County Police Department for their assistance in the investigation and prosecution. Mr. Rosenstein commended Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael C. Hanlon, who is prosecuting the case.
