BOWIE DRUG DEALER SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IN PRISON
Greenbelt, Maryland - U.S. District Judge Deborah K. Chasanow sentenced Eduardo Reyes-Sotero, age 27, of Bowie, Maryland, today to 10 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release for conspiring to distribute large quantities of cocaine, announced United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein.
According to his guilty plea, from September to December 2008, Reyes-Sotero obtained over nine kilograms of cocaine from a coconspirator, and distributed the cocaine in Maryland. For example, on December 6, 2008 Reyes-Sotero delivered approximately two kilograms of cocaine to a home in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
On December 8, 2008, a Maryland State Police officer conducted a traffic stop in the Rockville, Maryland area on a car driven by Reyes-Sotero. The vehicle was searched and five bricks of cocaine totaling approximately 5,607 grams were seized from a hidden compartment. Later that day, officers searched Reyes-Sotero’s residence and a shed in the rear of the lot, and seized multiple kilograms of cocaine, three digital scales, kilogram wrappers with cocaine residue, 13 cell phones, $6,000, a .38 caliber revolver and a box of ammunition.
United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein thanked the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Maryland State Police for their investigative work and commended Assistant United States Attorney Jonathan Su, who prosecuted the case.
