CRACK DEALER SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS IN PRISON
Baltimore, Maryland - U.S. District Judge William D. Quarles, Jr. sentenced Wayne Leroy Logan, age 48, of Baltimore, Maryland, today to 15 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release, after Logan pleaded guilty to the distribution of crack cocaine. Judge Quarles enhanced Logan’s sentence upon finding that he is a career offender based on three previous narcotics convictions.
The guilty plea and sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein; Special Agent in Charge Ava Cooper-Davis of the Drug Enforcement Administration - Washington Field Division; and Baltimore Police Commissioner Frederick H. Bealefeld III.
According to Logan’s guilty plea, on November 24 and December 10, 2009, an undercover officer arranged with Logan to purchase crack cocaine. On both occasions, the undercover officer was wearing a wireless device to record the meeting with Logan and used cash provided by DEA to make the purchases. On November 24, the undercover officer gave Logan $1,200 for one ounce of crack cocaine and on December 10, purchased two ounces of crack cocaine for $2,200.
United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein commended Assistant United States Attorney Philip S. Jackson, who prosecuted the case.
