DISTRICT HEIGHTS MAN SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS IN PRISON
ON GUN AND DRUG CHARGES
Greenbelt, Maryland - Chief U.S. District Judge Deborah K. Chasanow sentenced Charles W. Wade, age 50, of District Heights, Maryland, today to 12 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime
The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein; Special Agent in Charge Ava Cooper-Davis of the Drug Enforcement Administration - Washington Field Division; Chief Mark A. Magaw of the Prince George’s County Police Department; and Special Agent in Charge Theresa R. Stoop of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives - Baltimore Field Division.
According to Wade’s plea agreement, on May 13, 2010, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Wade’s residence and recovered: 23.3 grams of crack cocaine; drug paraphernalia, including two digital scales, packaging materials, razors and a glass dish with cocaine residue. Officers also recovered an 8 mm pistol, found under the mattress where Wade had been sleeping when law enforcement arrived at the house.
United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein commended the DEA, Prince George’s County Police Department - Narcotics Enforcement Division, and ATF for their work in this investigation and thanked Special Assistant United States Attorney Hans B. Miller, assigned from the Department of Justice Criminal Division, Narcotic and Dangerous Drug Section, who prosecuted the case.
