DRUG TRAFFICKER SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS IN PRISON

 

Baltimore, Maryland - U.S. District Judge Catherine C. Blake sentenced William Bayne, age 31, of Curtis Bay, Maryland, today to 14 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute cocaine base.

 

The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein; and Special Agent in Charge Ava Cooper-Davis of the Drug Enforcement Administration - Washington Field Division.

 

According to his guilty plea, on March 23, 2010, Bayne arrived at a convenience store on East Patapsco Avenue in Baltimore to meet a DEA confidential source. Bayne had previously arranged to sell the individual two and a quarter ounces of crack cocaine. Bayne was arrested once he entered the individual’s car and the crack cocaine was found on the car floor.

 

United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein commended the DEA for its work in the investigation and thanked Assistant United States Attorney Peter M. Nothstein, who prosecuted the case.
