FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FELON EXILED TO OVER 15 YEARS IN PRISON FOR POSSESSION OF A GUN
Baltimore, Maryland - U.S. District Judge Catherine C. Blake sentenced Damon Gerard Dickerson, age 38, of Baltimore, today to 188 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release for being a felon in possession of a gun. Judge Blake enhanced Dickerson’s sentence upon finding that he is an armed career criminal based on three previous drug and assault convictions.
The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein; Special Agent in Charge Theresa R. Stoop of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives - Baltimore Field Division; Baltimore City State’s Attorney Gregg L. Bernstein; and Baltimore Police Commissioner Frederick H. Bealefeld III.
According to Dickerson’s plea agreement, on March 5, 2009 while on probation from a previous drug and assault conviction, Baltimore Police stopped Dickerson as he was driving on Harford Road in Baltimore, after identifying Dickerson as being wanted for arrest. Officers seized four small plastic bags containing cocaine from his jacket, more cocaine from his underarm and 19 additional bags of cocaine from his car.
Officers executed a search warrant at Dickerson’s home and seized two digital scales with cocaine residue, a small plastic bag of cocaine and a can with a false bottom that contained loose cocaine and marijuana. Officers also recovered a revolver and a stolen shotgun from a closet.
United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein commended the ATF, the Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office and the Baltimore Police Department for their work in this investigation. Mr. Rosenstein thanked Assistant United States Attorney Judson T. Mihok, who prosecuted the case.
