Attorney General Presents Awards for “Superior Performance as an Assistant U.S. Attorney”
BALTIMORE, Md. - The Department of Justice held its 26th annual Executive Office for United States Attorneys (EOUSA) Director’s Awards Ceremony on Friday, December 4, 2009, during which 146 award recipients were recognized for their dedication to carrying out the Department of Justice’s mission. Among the award recipients were Maryland Assistant U.S. Attorneys Stuart A. Berman, Michael R. Pauzé, Robert H. Harding and Michael C. Hanlon, who received awards for Superior Performance as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, in recognition of their work on important criminal cases.
“These award recipients have been honored for their service and commitment to our country, as well as to their local communities,” said Attorney General Eric Holder. “Each of these dedicated servants has carried out the important mission of the Department of Justice. Their accomplishments have advanced the interests of justice on behalf of the American people.”
“I am proud that the Justice Department recognized the exceptional work performed by Maryland Assistant U.S. Attorneys,” said U.S. Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein. “Assistant U.S. Attorneys Stuart Berman and Michael Pauzé received awards for their work on a sensitive public corruption case in Prince George’s County, while Robert Harding and Michael Hanlon were recognized for a challenging racketeering prosecution of four gang members who committed five violent murders in Baltimore.”
The awards were presented by Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr., Deputy Attorney General David W. Ogden and EOUSA Director H. Marshall Jarrett at a ceremony held in the Great Hall of the Robert F. Kennedy Main Justice Building, in Washington, D.C.
A panel selects the recipients of Director’s Awards based on nominations submitted by each of the nation’s 94 U.S. Attorneys. Recipients included Assistant United States Attorneys, law enforcement agents, litigation teams and others who have made outstanding contributions in federal, state and local law enforcement.
The extraordinary work of AUSAs Berman, Pauzé, Harding and Hanlon has helped the Department of Justice to continue its mission to enforce all of our nation’s laws, including prosecuting civil rights violations, gang violence and drug crimes, as well as representing our client agencies, conducting civil enforcement, and assisting victims of crime.
