HEROIN AND CRACK DEALER SENTENCED TO OVER 14 YEARS IN PRISON
Baltimore, Maryland - Chief U.S. District Judge Benson E. Legg sentenced Kevin Robinson, age 33, of Baltimore, today to 170 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin and 50 grams or more of cocaine base (crack cocaine), announced United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein.
According to his guilty plea, beginning in July 2007, Robinson began communicating with an undercover detective (“the UC”) of the Baltimore City Police Department, whom Robinson believed to be a drug dealer. From July 2007 through November 29, 2007, Robinson spoke with the UC to arrange drug transactions. On eight occasions between July 27 and October 10, 2007, Robinson arranged to sell the UC crack cocaine and/or heroin gel caps. Sometimes Robinson would give the drugs to a co-conspirator, who would deliver the drugs to the UC in exchange for cash. On at least two occasions Robinson provided the drugs to the UC himself. All of the transactions occurred in Baltimore.
Shortly after providing both heroin and crack cocaine to the UC on October 10, 2007, Robinson was arrested and law enforcement agents searched 934 Peach Street in Baltimore - a location that Robinson used to store narcotics - and recovered drug trafficking paraphernalia, 70.6 grams of heroin, and 1.3 grams of crack cocaine. Robinson admits that he was responsible for distributing and possessing with the intent to distribute approximately 136.8 grams of heroin and 149.9 grams of cocaine base.
United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein thanked the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Baltimore Police Department for their investigative work and commended Assistant United States Attorney Bryan Giblin, who prosecuted the case.
