PAGANS MOTORCYCLE GANG LEADER PLEADS GUILTY TO GUN CHARGE
Baltimore, Maryland - Jay Carl Wagner, age 66, of Hagerstown, Maryland, pleaded guilty today to being a felon in possession of a firearm, announced United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein.
According to the plea agreement, on May 9, 2007, the Maryland State Police (MSP) and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) executed a search warrant at the Wagner’s home in Hagerstown Maryland, after members of MSP observed Wagner, a leader of the Pagan Motorcycle Club in Maryland, exit his home armed with what appeared to be a handgun. Agents recovered 19 firearms, at least one of which was stolen, and numerous quantities of ammunition of varying calibers.
Wagner faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release. U.S. District Judge Benson E. Legg has scheduled sentencing for June 6, 2008 at 11:00 a.m.
United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein thanked the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Maryland State Police for their investigative work. Mr. Rosenstein commended Assistant United States Attorney James T. Wallner, who is prosecuting the case.
