PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY CRACK COCAINE DEALER SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON
Greenbelt, Maryland - U.S. District Judge Roger W. Titus sentenced Dennis A. Dykes, age 22, of Capitol Heights, today to 10 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, announced United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein.
According to his guilty plea, Dykes was in an apartment in Capitol Heights, Maryland when law enforcement officers executed a search warrant there. The search warrant was issued after a confidential informant purchased crack cocaine from a co-defendant. During the search officers recovered over 49 grams of crack cocaine, baggies and other drug distribution materials, a loaded .45 caliber pistol, a loaded 9mm pistol, a loaded .380 caliber pistol with an obliterated serial number, two loaded 12 gauge shotguns and additional ammunition. The .45 caliber pistol had been stolen from a residence in Montgomery County, Maryland on April 16, 2003. Ballistics tests indicated that the .380 caliber pistol with an obliterated serial number recovered during this search had been used during a homicide that occurred on February 12, 2004, in Temple Hills, Maryland.
United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein thanked Federal Bureau of Investigation and Prince George’s County Police Department for their investigative work, and commended Assistant United States Attorney Steven M. Dunne, who prosecuted the case.
