TWO FLORIDA MEN INDICTED FOR DISTRIBUTING MARIJUANA IN MARYLAND WITH A STREET VALUE OF AT LEAST $8 MILLION
Greenbelt, Maryland - A federal grand jury indicted Pierre Smith, a/k/a “P,” age 37, of Coconut Beach, Florida, and Clifton Domond, age 31, of Mirmar, Florida, late yesterday on charges arising from the distribution of more than 100 kilograms of marijuana in Maryland, with a street value of at least $8 million.
The indictment was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein, Special Agent in Charge Ava Cooper-Davis of the Drug Enforcement Administration - Washington Field Division; and Chief J. Thomas Manger of the Montgomery County Police Department.
According to the five count indictment, from July 2007 to March 22, 2010, the defendants traveled between Florida, Maryland and elsewhere to sell more than 220 pounds of marijuana. The value of the marijuana sold is estimated to be at least $8 million.
Both defendants face a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison for conspiracy to distribute 100 kilograms or more of marijuana; 40 years in prison for distributing marijuana; and five years in prison on each of three counts for traveling between Florida, Maryland and elsewhere to distribute drugs. The defendants had their initial appearances in federal court in Greenbelt shortly after their arrest on March 22, 2010 upon the filing of a complaint.
An indictment is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by indictment is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceedings.
