U.S. ATTORNEY’S OFFICE TO CO-SPONSOR COMMUNITY SAFETY AWARENESS DAY AT THE FREDERICK KEYS GAME ON MAY 9

Baltimore, Maryland - The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland, along with state and local law enforcement agencies and other partners, in cooperation with the Frederick Keys Organization, is hosting a “Community Safety Awareness ” Day at Harry Grove Stadium on May 9, 2009 at 6:00 p.m.

This effort is part of the Department of Justice’s “Project Safe Childhood” Program, which is focused on educating parents and children about on-line safety. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), and their Mascot, Clicky, will be there to promote their message about on-line safety. The U.S. Secret Service will also be on hand to prepare child ID kits. Federal, state and local law enforcement partners will be promoting an anti-drug and anti-gang message, along with their iconic mascot McGruff the Crime Dog. Other non-profit organizations will be on hand to deliver a message about keeping kids safe and healthy. Participating agencies have prepared giveaways for each child who visits the information booth and there will be a raffle for a baseball autographed by the Keys team. Finally, a fireworks display is planned after the game.

Please join us at Harry Grove Stadium for a night of excellent minor league baseball and to show your support for efforts to keep our community safe. For information or tickets, please go to www.frederickkeys.com.
