WASHINGTON, D.C. FELON EXILED TO 12 YEARS IN PRISON
FOR DRUG AND GUN OFFENSES
Greenbelt, Maryland - Chief U.S. District Judge Deborah K. Chasanow sentenced Khalee Avonte Moseley, age 29, of Washington, D.C., today to 12 years in prison followed by three years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms and ecstasy, and possession of a gun by a felon. Judge Chasanow enhanced Moseley’s sentence upon finding that he is a career offender based on two previous drug convictions.
The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein; Special Agent in Charge Theresa R. Stoop of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives - Baltimore Field Division; Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Angela D. Alsobrooks; and Interim Chief Mark Magaw of the Prince George’s County Police Department.
According to Moseley’s plea agreement, on October 5, 2010, Prince George’s County police officers stopped a car driven by Moseley in Capitol Heights, Maryland. Police saw an open alcoholic beverage and smelled marijuana smoke. Police seized a 9mm pistol, 8 baggies of marijuana weighing 38.2 grams, 17 baggies of psilocybin mushrooms weighing 20 grams, 21 ecstasy pills and $701. Moseley had previously been convicted of a felony and thus was prohibited from possessing a gun.
United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein commended the ATF, Prince George’s County Police Department and the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office for their work in this investigation and prosecution. Mr. Rosenstein thanked Assistant United States Attorney Stuart A. Berman and Special Assistant United States Attorney Erin B. Pulice, who prosecuted the case.
