WICOMICO COUNTY COCAINE DEALER SENTENCED TO 10 ½ YEARS IN PRISON
Baltimore, Maryland - U.S. District Judge Benson Everett Legg, sentenced Marc J. Curry, age 44, of Salisbury, Maryland, today to 126 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute cocaine and crack cocaine.
The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein; Special Agent in Charge Ava Cooper-Davis of the Drug Enforcement Administration - Washington Field Division; Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis; and Wicomico County State’s Attorney Matthew Maciardello.
According to Curry’s guilty plea, on July 2, 2009, a Wicomico County Sheriff’s deputy stopped the car Curry was driving for speeding. As the deputy approached the car, Curry appeared nervous and the deputy recognized him from a previous case. A K-9 scan resulted in a positive alert for narcotics. A subsequent search of the car recovered a black knit hat in the glove box, with a trash bag inside the hat that contained a zip lock bag with 240 grams of crack cocaine and 31.5 grams of powder cocaine. A digital scale was also found in the center console of the vehicle and law enforcement recovered $1,800 from Curry’s front pant pocket.
United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein commended the DEA, Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, the Wicomico County Narcotics Task Force, and the Wicomico County State’s Attorney’s Office for their work in the investigation and prosecution. Mr. Rosenstein thanked Assistant United States Attorney Ayn Ducao, who prosecuted the case.
