Portland, Maine: United States Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II announced that Ronald
Grant Thurston III, 25, of Yarmouth, was sentenced today by United States District Judge
George Z. Singal to two and one-half years of imprisonment and five years of supervised release
for possession of child pornography. Thurston pled guilty on July 15, 2013.
According to court records, in January 2012, Thurston induced two teenaged girls to
transmit pornographic images of themselves to him via text messaging. Investigators later
recovered those images and others when they executed a search warrant on Thurston’s computer
and cell phone.
The investigation was conducted by the United States Secret Service, the Maine State
Police Computer Crimes Unit, and the South Portland, Westbrook and Yarmouth Police
Training and seminars for Federal, State, and Local Law Enforcement Agencies.
