Support Staff Employment Opportunities

Clerical and Technical Occupations - The U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of Michigan, employs about 75 individuals in clerical or technical support positions, including the following job titles: Legal Assistant, Senior Legal Assistant, Human Resources Assistant, Supply Technician, Budget Technician and Office Services Assistant. Employment opportunities are best for Legal Assistants. Successful candidates typically have excellent keyboarding skills, proficiency with word processing software, and prior specialized training and/or work experience in a law office environment.

Administrative Occupations - There are approximately 20 administrative positions at the U.S. Attorney's Office, which includes such occupations as Paralegal Specialist, Budget Analyst, Information Technology Specialist, Victim-Witness Specialist, Law Enforcement Coordination Specialist, Contract Specialist, Management Analyst, Auditor, Investigator, Librarian and Human Resources Specialist. Projected vacancies are extremely limited. Administrative positions require excellent written and oral communication skills, a college degree in a related academic field and/or directly related specialized experience.

Student Positions - The office employs approximately 10 individuals under the Federal government's Student Employment Program and Career Experience Program. Opportunities are best for college students who are interested in working at the U.S. Attorney's Office for a period of at least a year. The office also hosts individuals under the Student Volunteer Program, which allows students to work in unpaid positions for academic credit.
