LEADER OF LOCAL DRUG TRAFFICKING ORGANIZATION SENTENCED TO 12.5 YEARS IN PRISON

St. Louis, MO: Ronnie Allen Nelson was sentenced to 150 months in prison on charges involving the distribution of marijuana and cocaine throughout the St. Louis area, United States Attorney Catherine L. Hanaway announced today.

Ronnie Allen Nelson was the leader of a drug trafficking organization responsible for the distribution of more than 1,000 kilograms of marijuana and 728 grams of cocaine between May and December 2007.  The cocaine and marijuana was distributed to individuals in various locations throughout the City of St. Louis, St. Louis County and other locations.

RONNIE ALLEN NELSON, St. Louis, Missouri, pled guilty last August to one felony count of conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana.  He appeared today for sentencing before United States District Judge E. Richard Webber.

Hanaway commended the work performed on the case by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the St. Louis County Police Department and Assistant United States Attorney Jennifer Roy, who is handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
