January 8, 2009 TWO ARIZONA WOMAN PLEAD GUILTY TO METHAMPHETAMINE DISTRIBUTION CHARGES St. Louis, MO: Two Arizona women have entered guilty pleas to methamphetamine distribution charges involving a conspiracy to transport and distribute methamphetamine from Arizona to Jefferson County, Missouri, United States Attorney Catherine L. Hanaway announced today. KRISTINE ANN HESS, Winkleman, Arizona, pled guilty to one felony count of conspiracy to distribute in excess of 500 grams of methamphetamine. VALERIE J. HORTON, Winkleman, Arizona, pled guilty to one felony count of conspiracy to distribute in excess of 500 grams of methamphetamine. The evidence submitted at the plea hearing reflects that from 2006 to February 2008, the two women, mother and daughter, were involved with the distribution of more than 10 pounds of methamphetamine, which was shipped or transported from Arizona back to Jefferson County, Missouri, for distribution. Both defendants appeared before United States District Judge Henry E. Autrey. Sentencings have been set for April 2, 2009. Each defendant faces a penalty range of not less than ten years to life in prison. Co-defendant, Christopher Dunlap, House Springs, Missouri, previously pled guilty to related charges and awaits sentencing on February 12, 2009. Hanaway commended the work performed on the case by the Unites States Postal Inspection Service and Assistant United States Attorney James Delworth, who is handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office. |
