ST. LOUIS AREA MAN INDICTED FOR POSSESSION OF ILLEGAL FIREARMS IN ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY

St. Louis, MO: Guy Allen was indicted for possession of machine guns in St. Francois County, United States Attorney Catherine L. Hanaway and St. Francois County Sheriff Daniel R. Bullock announced today.

GUY ALLEN, of the St. Louis area, formerly of Bonne Terre, Missouri, was indicted by a federal grand jury on one felony count of possession of a machine gun.  The indictment alleges that Allen was in possession of one or more machine guns on February 14, 2008, in St. Francois County.  If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of ten years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000.  Mr. Allen was arrested this morning by law enforcement officers, and is expected to appear in federal court on Friday, in St. Louis.

Hanaway commended the work performed on the case by the St. Francois County Sheriff, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Assistant United States Attorney John Sauer, who is handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The charges set forth in an indictment are merely accusations, and each defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
