PHELPS COUNTY MAN CONVICTED OF MULTIPLE FEDERAL CHARGES

St. Louis, MO: Donald Robinson was convicted of multiple drug and weapons charges, United States Attorney Catherine L. Hanaway and Phelps County Prosecuting Attorney Courtney George announced today.

Testimony presented at trial revealed that Robinson had a methamphetamine lab and drug-involved premises at his property in Doolittle, Missouri.  Robinson also possessed multiple firearms in furtherance of this drug trafficking activity.

“The Phelps County Prosecutor’s office will continue working with all agencies at both local and federal levels in our combined efforts to protect the citizens of Phelps County to ensure that felons receive elevated penalties. By referring cases to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, felons automatically receive longer sentences, by law, being that the mandatory minimum sentence is 35 years in prison,” said Prosecuting Attorney George.

DONALD ROBINSON, Doolittle, Missouri, was convicted Tuesday afternoon of two felony counts of maintaining drug-involved premises, one felony count of possession with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine, two felony counts of possession of firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking crimes and one felony count of possession with intent to distribute more than five grams of methamphetamine.  The non-jury trial was held before United States District Judge Henry E. Autrey.

Robinson now faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 35 years in prison, a maximum possible sentence of life in prison and/or fines up to $2,000,000, when he is sentenced on June 9, 2009.

In addition to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Hanaway commended the work performed on the case by the South Central Drug Task Force, the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department, the Rolla Police Department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the U.S. Forest Service, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Assistant United States Attorney Cristian M. Stevens and D. John Sauer, who prosecuted the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
