FRANKLIN COUNTY MAN SENTENCED ON  MARIJUANA CONSPIRACY CHARGES

St. Louis, MO: Brian Waltman was sentenced to five years in prison on federal charges involving the conspiracy to distribute marijuana, United States Attorney Catherine L. Hanaway and Franklin County Sheriff Gary Toelke announced today.

BRIAN WALTMAN, Eureka, Missouri, plead guilty in January to one felony count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana and one felony count of possession with intent to distribute marijuana.  He appeared today for sentencing before United States District Judge Rodney W. Sippel.

Three of the following co-defendants have plead guilty to related charges, two are facing trial:

  • Walter D. Forman, Galveston, Texas, plead guilty in January -- sentencing April 2
  • Dennis Vaughn, Riverview, Missouri, plead guilty February 13 -- sentencing May 1;
  • Daniel Bryan Webster, Stanton, Missouri, facing trial
  • James P. Clark, Galveston, Texas, facing trial

These charges carry a penalty range of 5 to 40 years in prison and/or fines up to $2,000,000.

Hanaway commended the work performed on the case by the Franklin County Narcotics Task Force, the Drug Enforcement Administration and Assistant United States Attorney Noelle Collins, who is handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The charges set forth in an indictment are merely accusations, and the remaining defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
