FRANKLIN COUNTY MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO METHAMPHETAMINE-RELATED CHARGES

St. Louis, MO: John Allen Wiedner pled guilty to methamphetamine related charges, United States Attorney Catherine L. Hanaway announced today.

According to court documents, between April 2006 and September 2007, Wiedner obtained pseudoephedrine-based cold tablets from various locations in Franklin County, knowing that they would be used to manufacture methamphetamine.  Franklin County Narcotics Unit officers conducted a check of the databases which reflect pseudoephedrine-based cold tablet purchases in the Franklin County area.  As a result of that information, officers determined that Wiedner had purchased 69.12 grams of these tablets.

JOHN ALLEN WIEDNER, Union, Missouri, pled guilty to one felony count of possession of pseudoephedrine, knowing that it would be used to manufacture methamphetamine.  He appeared before United States District Judge Rodney W. Sippel today in St. Louis.  He now faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000 when he is sentenced on June 5, 2009.

Hanaway commended the work performed on the case by the Franklin County Narcotics Unit.
