JEFFERSON COUNTY WOMAN SENTENCED ON ILLEGAL WEAPONS CHARGES

St. Louis, MO: Rachel Amratiel was sentenced to 18 months in prison for illegal possession of a grenade, Acting United States Attorney Michael W. Reap announced today.

RACHEL AMRATIEL, House Springs, Missouri, pleaded guilty August 11, 2009, to one felony count of illegal possession of a grenade on May 24, 2007, in Jefferson County.  She appeared Thursday afternoon for sentencing before United States District Judge Rodney W. Sippel.

This case was investigated and prosecuted as part of the Department of Justice’s Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative, which seeks to prevent violent crime through enforcement of federal firearms laws, such as the law prohibiting convicted felons from possessing firearms.

Reap commended the work performed on the case by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and Assistant United States Attorney Jeannette Graviss, who handled the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
