FERGUSON, MISSOURI, MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON ON CHILD ENTICEMENT CHARGES

St. Louis, MO: Robert Daniel Rey was sentenced to 10 years in prison on child enticement charges, Acting United States Attorney Michael W. Reap announced today.

ROBERT DANIEL REY, Ferguson, Missouri, pleaded guilty in July to one felony count of attempt to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity. On two occasions in February and May 2007, Rey attempted to entice a minor under the age of eighteen to engage in sexual activity. He appeared today for sentencing before United States District Judge Donald J. Stohr.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. Reap commended the work performed on the case by Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Maryland Heights Police Department and Assistant United States Attorney Allison Behrens, who handled the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
