ROLLA, MISSOURI, MAN INDICTED ON FEDERAL DRUG & WEAPONS CHARGES

St. Louis, MO: Harold Connerley was indicted on various drug charges and illegal possession of firearms, Acting United States Attorney Michael W. Reap announced today.

HAROLD CONNERLEY, Rolla, Missouri, was indicted by a federal grand jury August 27, 2009, on one felony count of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, one felony count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and one felony count of be being a previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm.  The indictment states that the alleged crimes occurred in December 2008 in Phelps County.  He appeared earlier this week in federal court in St. Louis.

If convicted, these offenses carry the following penalties:

Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, maximum of five years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000; possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, five years to life in prison and/or fines up to $250,000 (consecutive to all other counts); and being a previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm, maximum of ten years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000.

Reap commended the work performed on the case by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Rolla Police Department, the South Central Drug Task Force, Phelps County Sheriff, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Assistant United States Attorney Pat Judge, who is handling the cases for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The charges set forth in an indictment are merely accusations, and each defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
