JEFFERSON COUNTY MAN INDICTED ON ENVIRONMENTAL CHARGES FOR ILLEGAL DUMPING IN ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY

St. Louis, MO: Robert Frost was indicted for transporting and disposing hazardous waste in St. Francois County, Acting United States Attorney Michael W. Reap announced today.

According to the indictment, in January 2009, Robert Frost entered into an agreement with Complete Roofing Company, Inc. to dispose of approximately sixty 55-gallon drums containing roofing waste from the Complete Roofing facility in Imperial, Missouri, at a cost of $10 per drum.  Approximately 26 of the drums were too full to scrap. The indictment alleges that Frost illegally transported and disposed of these 26 drums, some of which contained hazardous waste, on an abandoned home site located on Highway Y, French Village, St. Francois County, Missouri.

ROBERT FROST, Imperial, Missouri, was indicted by a federal grand jury on one felony count of illegal disposal of hazardous waste and one felony count of illegal transportation of hazardous waste.

If convicted, each count carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000.

Reap commended the work performed on the case by Region 7 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Criminal Investigation Division, Missouri Department of Natural Resources and Special Assistant United States Attorney Anne Rauch, who is handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The charges set forth in an indictment are merely accusations, and each defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
