MACON COUNTY MAN SENTENCED ON FEDERAL FIREARMS CHARGE

St. Louis, MO: Robert Fee was sentenced to twelve months and one day for illegal possession of a firearm, United States Attorney Richard G. Callahan announced today.

ROBERT FEE, Excello, Missouri, pleaded guilty last November to one felony count of being a previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm, for his possession of a firearm between March 15 and April 15, 2008, in Macon County. Due to a previous felony conviction, he is prohibited by law to own or possess firearms. He appeared Thursday, January 28 for sentencing before United States District Judge Jean C. Hamilton.

The case was investigated and prosecuted as part of the Department of Justice’s Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative, which seeks to prevent violent crime through enforcement of federal firearms laws, such as the law prohibiting convicted felons from possessing firearms.

Callahan commended the work performed on the case by the Macon County Sheriff, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives and Assistant United States Attorney Eliza Williams, who is handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
