RICHARD G. CALLAHAN
United States Attorney
Richard G. Callahan was sworn-in by Chief United States District Judge Catherine D. Perry to serve as United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri.
President Barack Obama nominated Callahan in September 2009, and he was confirmed by the United States Senate on Thursday, December 24, 2009. Callahan succeeds Michael W. Reap, who was appointed as Interim U.S. Attorney in April 2009.
Prior to being nominated by President Obama to become the 47th United States Attorney, Mr. Callahan served as a Circuit Judge for the 19th Judicial Circuit of Missouri beginning in 2003.
Mr. Callahan’s career includes 14 years as either an assistant prosecutor or a special prosecutor, 16 years as the elected prosecutor, in addition to serving as Circuit Judge.
Callahan earned his law degree from Georgetown University Law School.
Mr. Callahan was named 2009 Attorney of the Year by the Missouri Lawyer’s Weekly.
